Jean Helms Mills

Jean is a Professor of Management at the Sobey School of Business, Saint Mary’s University, Canada and Professor (2.0) at Jyväskylä School of Business and Economics, Jyväskylä University, Finland. She is the Past Co-divisional Chair of the CMS Division of AoM and also served for a number of years on the Administrative Sciences of Canada Executive. Currently, Jean is an Associate Editor of Gender, Work and Organization and serves on the editorial boards of several other journals. Her books include “Making Sense of Organizational Change” (Routledge, 2003), “Understanding Organizational Change” (Routledge, 2009) and the forthcoming “Routledge Companion to Critical Management Studies”. Jean’s research interests include gender, critical sensemaking, organizational culture and change and historiography. Her work has been published in a number of journals, including Organization; Gender, Work and Organization; Journal of Organizational Change Management; Organizational Research Methods; Management and Organizational History and the Journal of Management and Organizational History. As well being a co-investigator on the SSHRC grant – “Reassembling Canadian Management Knowledge: Dispersion, Equity, Identity and History” she is also the Principle Investigator on a 5-year SSHRC grant “Intersectionality at Work: Time, Location, and Socio-political Context—Case Studies of Four International Airlines.”
